Application Steps

 
Step 1: Apply to Pima Community College
  • Apply

  • Select Medical Assistant Certificate for the program

Step 2: Receive email with your Pima Community College student number (your A number)
  • Activate your “MyPima” account

Step 3: Email MA Program Advisor (see bottom of page for advisor contact information)
  • Let them know you are applying as a Santa Cruz Center MA student

    Include your Pima CC student number (A number) in your email message

Step 4: Complete the My Student Checklist (go to MyPima), including the Placement tests
  • For Placement Test information, contact the MA Program Advisor

Step 5: Complete and submit the Medical Assistant Program Application for Admission
  • Must be submitted by Wednesday, July 15, 2026

Step 6: Receive an email with your conditional acceptance to the MA Program
  • Email provides date, time, and place for the required MA Program orientation

Step 7: Attend the required MA Program orientation
  • Learn everything you need to know about getting started!

Prepare for Admission

Vaccination Requirements
  • Complete Hep B series (2 or 3 injections based on the manufacturer or a negative titer)
  • 2 MMR injections or a negative titer
  • Negative TB test results (within one year of internship date)
  • Tdap injection within the last 10 years
  • Varicella injections or a negative titer
Complete Prerequisites
  • Basic First Aid Certification (Certification cost is $50+ and cannot be taken online)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR (Health Care Provider) (Certification cost is $50+ and cannot be taken online)
  • Level-one fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (For fingerprint information, visit Fingerprint Clearance Card Instructions; cost is $65)
  • Health Declaration Form
  • Proof of health insurance
Items You Will Need
  • Analog watch with second hand
  • Blood pressure cuff (optional but recommended)
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Scrubs (customized for MA program)
  • Stethoscope
  • Textbooks, document tracking app, learning platform app
