Students at Santa Cruz Center are preparing to be part of the region’s global economy with specialized skills that meet U.S. demands for affordable manufacturing and winter fresh fruits and vegetables. Employment opportunities follow the industry clusters, with distribution and transportation leading the way.
Career employment has emerged in a number of fields over the last 15 years in distribution and electronic commerce, transportation and logistics, construction and lighting/electrical equipment. Occupations that are linked to theses fields include hand laborers and freight, stock and material movers, truck drivers, vehicle service technicians, hand packers, and billing and posting clerks, as well as specialized sales, logistics, supervisory and management occupations.
Career employment has emerged in a number of fields over the last 15 years in distribution and electronic commerce, transportation and logistics, construction and lighting/electrical equipment. New programs such as the Logistics Supply Chain Management Associate of Applied Science degree support the local international Manufacturing and Produce industries. More specialized programs are in development that will attract students from Nogales, Sonora.
The only higher education center in Santa Cruz County
The Santa Cruz Center is the only higher education institution with a physical presence in Nogales. University of Arizona Santa Cruz campus is located inside our center, providing students with quality post-high school programs locally.
Since 2007, Santa Cruz County Provisional Community College District delivers a range of Associates degrees and certifications, with 153 degrees awarded through June 2015.
Four-year degrees available at the Santa Cruz Center through University of Arizona’s UA South, which has its own facilities inside the Center.
